TOUCH BAY by SYNTHFOX is a performance-oriented tactile signal router. It includes the module (shown in the panel picture) and a special handle that connects to it via a ribbon cable - here it is in this photo. The handle is meant to sit outside the rack and be a performance tool that you can pick up and play without tangling your hands in the patch. The 4 inputs labelled with letters (A, B, C, D) and 4 outputs labelled with numbers (1, 2, 3, 4) directly correspond to the copper pads on the tactile handle. Pads A, B, C and D have the signals from the inputs, and pads 1, 2, 3 and 4 are connected to the respecitve output amplifiers with dedicated sensitivity setting knobs. Touch an input pad and an output pad to route! Touching more than one input pads to mix signals, or more than one output pads to send signals to multiple destinations. By applying different pressure and covering different surface areas, different proportions of signals are achieved. This works really well with CV routing or feedback paths!

Due to the increased amount of questions about reissuing: there are plans on a rebuild of this idea, and currently there are some prototypes, but the touch plate amplifiers are still a bit noisy, and we are searching for a solution. But someday there will be a rerelease. Check out our other modules in the meantime!

  • 8 HP
  • 40 mm deep

  • 4 inputs and 4 outputs
  • Tactile routing between any of the inputs and outputs
  • Handle not rack mounted, allowing off-rack use
  • Output amplifier sensitivity setting goes from barely responding to full-scale modulation to firing gates useful for drum triggering
  • An expressive feedback, modulation, mixing tool
